In a remarkable milestone for Rwanda’s skills development agenda, 400 skilled carpenters have officially earned their National Certification through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. This achievement was made possible through strong collaboration among Rwanda Wood Value Chain Association (RWVCA), Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), and the Skills Development Fund (SDF).

The certification ceremony, held on October 31, 2025, marked the culmination of months of assessment and validation, recognizing the experience, talent, and dedication of carpenters who have long contributed to Rwanda’s construction and woodwork industry.

The RPL program provides an opportunity for skilled workers, many of whom acquired their expertise through hands-on experience rather than formal training, to have their competencies officially recognized in line with national standards.

By earning certification, these carpenters now gain access to broader employment opportunities, professional credibility, and potential pathways for further technical advancement.

This collaboration with RTB and the Skills Development Fund continues to demonstrate our shared commitment to upskilling Rwanda’s workforce and promoting sustainable livelihoods through technical and vocational excellence.
